Here's a pattern every Main Line parent knows: your kid has practice, so you drive. You wait in the car, scroll your phone for an hour, and drive home. Multiply that by three activities a week, and your own workout doesn't stand a chance.
You don't need more motivation. You need a plan that fits your life — and right now a good chunk of your week is spent parked outside other people's gyms.
There's a simpler model, and it's one of the things that makes CrossFit Main Line's Wayne location different: adult classes and a full youth program run at the same gym. One address, one trip, and everyone in the family actually trains.
One Roof, Two Programs
The Wayne gym at 125 E Swedesford Rd runs coached, one-hour adult classes from 5:30am through the evening most weekdays — plus a dedicated youth program with its own coaches, its own schedule, and age-appropriate training. This isn't a daycare corner with a rope ladder. Kids get the same thing adults do: a guided hour with a coach, structured around skill, movement, and fun, scaled to their level.
Families from Radnor, Devon, Berwyn, St. Davids, Strafford, Villanova, and King of Prussia use the same trip for two workouts. That's not a convenience feature. For most households, it's the difference between a family that means to exercise and a family that does.
The Three Youth Tracks
The youth program is built in three age-based tracks, so a seven-year-old and a fourteen-year-old aren't lumped into the same class:
- Littles (ages 3–7) — movement, coordination, and play with a coach guiding the fun
- Juniors (ages 8–10) — foundational strength and skill work, built around games and progress kids can feel
- Teens (ages 11+) — structured training that builds strength, confidence, and good movement habits before high school sports demand them
You can read about each track in depth on the CrossFit Youth page.
The Youth Schedule at Wayne
Youth classes at the Wayne location run on a weekly rhythm that's easy to build a routine around:
- Wednesday — Teens at 3:45pm, right after school
- Saturday — Juniors at 12:15pm
- Sunday — Juniors and Teens together at 12:00pm
- Monday — Youth Weightlifting at 7:30pm (invite only, for kids ready for the next step)
Adult classes don't run on Sundays, but the youth program does — which means Sunday can be the kids' training day even when yours is Saturday.
How Parents Pair Their Classes With the Kids'
This is where the one-roof model earns its keep. A few pairings Wayne families settle into:
- The Saturday stack: you take the 9:00am or 10:00am adult class, grab coffee, and your Junior trains at 12:15pm. One morning, whole family done.
- The Wednesday handoff: your teen trains at 3:45pm; you take the 4:30pm or 5:30pm class. You're both home for dinner, both trained.
- The split week: you hit the 5:30am or 12:00pm classes on your own schedule, and the kids hold down their Saturday and Sunday sessions.
No pairing requires heroics. Each one just attaches training to a drive you were making anyway.
Why Parallel Training Builds Family Consistency
Kids don't do what we say. They do what we do. When your kids watch you rack your own bar and high-five your own classmates, exercise stops being a chore adults assign and starts being something the family simply does — like dinner.
The consistency runs both directions. Parents skip fewer workouts when the trip already exists, and kids stick with programs longer when training is a family identity instead of another scheduled obligation. Coaches here have watched that pattern repeat since 2012, across three locations and hundreds of Main Line families — it's a big part of why the gym has earned more than 500 five-star reviews across Google and Yelp.
Family FAQ
Can my kid start without any sports background?
Yes. Every youth class is coached and scaled the same way adult classes are. The first goal is always confidence and good movement, not performance.
Do parents and kids ever train in the same class?
No — each program has its own classes and coaching, which is exactly why both work. Kids get training designed for their age; you get an hour that's actually yours.
What if I'm brand new too?
Your first adult class focuses on technique, and every workout scales to your level. Plenty of Wayne parents started the same week their kids did.
