3.12.15 Box Brief

The CrossFit Open season is almost halfway through and the excitement in the Box is growing. The last two Fridays have seen over 200 personal records set as Athletes metabolic and strength thresholds were tested. Workouts 15.1 and 15.1a were challenging but nothing was a bigger test than the return of the famous 2014 overhead squat and chest to bar couplet. The combo repeated itself as the second workout in the 2015 CrossFit Open and after the butterflies cleared, many of you completed your first chest to bar pull ups and dominated the overhead squat weight. All in all there were more than 50 personal records set on 15.2 alone- this CrossFit stuff really works! With only three workouts to go, the Friday night lights atmosphere can not help but get hotter as Athletes continue to compare themselves against their 2014 selves.

As if the CrossFit Open wasn’t all consuming, there is a lot going on at CrossFit Main Line and R5. Dumbbells have not only arrived but have made there way into many of the WODs this month. The first round of apparel from the new design team has arrived with another one on the way. “The Main Line Barbell Club” logo is under construction as are updates to Box; new flooring in the bathrooms and Box, fresh paint on the walls and new equipment arriving.

So, take a moment to scroll down and get a deeper look into what else is  coming in the Spring of 2015!

See you at the Box,
Daniel & Merrilee

Live Like Blaine

Empower and inspiring young women to become
leaders through fitness and athletics

We wanted to pass along a fun way to get ready for the summer and raise some money for a great cause.  One of our Crossfit Main Line athletes, Sid Steinberg, is running a “burpee challenge” for the Live Like Blaine Foundation. Blaine was his daughter who passed away suddenly last March, two weeks shy of her 21st birthday.  She was a lacrosse player at Dartmouth who found Crossfit when concussions ended her lacrosse career.  The mission of the LLB Foundation is to inspire and empower young women to become leaders through fitness and athletics.

The Burpees for Blaine challenge will start on March 22, which would have been Blaine’s birthday.  You will see in the attached flyer that there are multiple ways to get involved.  There is a “super challenge” for athletes where, over 100 days, you will do a total of 5,050 burpees and the challenge is for $.01 per burpee.  There is also a “classic challenge” where athletes can do burpees in multiples of 11 with a contribution of $22. If burpees really aren’t your thing but you want to help out, you can sponsor a friend or Sid at any amount. Details and prize opportunities can be found at www.livelikeblaine.org or on the LiveLikeBlaine facebook page.  We hope that you will have fun with this and enjoy some friendly competition for a great cause!

If you have any questions, please email Sid at contact@livelikeblaine.org and he can help you out.

St. Patricks Day Green Beer and Burpees

Bring in a friend and join us for Tuesday, March 17th as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the introduction of the benchmark WOD “Lucky Charms”. Top honors on the day gets a free four leaf clover tattoo, courtesy of ‘Sharpie’ and a green beer to wash it all down.

CrossFit Kids & Teens 2015 Spring Season

4.13.15 – 6.6.15

As our CrossFit Kids and Teens program grows, so does our Coaching staff. With Coach Steph at helm leading the way, the CrossFit Kids program has grown tremendously and we will soon add more specialized coaching with the additional of Coach Lea to the program.  In order to give the kids the coaching and space needed, we are starting a new CrossFit Kids season the week of April 13th that will run for 8 weeks. Parents, keep your eyes out for your email with more information, updates and to secure your child’s spot.
**Interested in your kids starting CrossFit? Check out our FREE CrossFit Kids Open House WOD on Sunday, April 12 at 1pm @ CFML.
