CrossFit Main Line – Ardmore

Lyn Finnerty

When did you start at CFML and what made you come in?
6 years ago, October 2012
I used to go to PSC Ardmore. After a month of driving by the building and wondering what Crossfit was. I remember liking how people actually talked to each other during the class as opposed to working out in a room of people wearing headphones. I don’t remember my first WOD, but I do remember Karen was my 2nd one!

Where did you grow up?
Havertown

What class times do you generally take and why?
5:45am.
It gets me feeling alive and ready for the day and because not much else interferes with 5:45am.

What’s your favorite thing about that class time?
In the early morning, you accomplish something strong and beautiful before the world is even awake.

What are you most proud of since you started CrossFit?
That I look better at 50 than I did at 30. Truth!

Outside of the gym, what is your favorite thing to do?
Drink coffee after Crossfit with my Crossfit friends while talking about Crossfit of course.

If you could invent anything what would it be and why?
A mindfulness pill. So we can enjoy the moment instead of too often living in the future or the past.

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life with no consequences what would it be?
I have to go with a white ricotta spinach, sundried tomato and artichoke pizza.

CrossFit Main Line – Wayne

Dennis Becton

When did you start at CFML and what made you come in?
I I started November of 2017.  Around May of 2017, my job moved to Philly, forcing me out of my basement workout routine, so I decided to try Crossfit at a box in Philadelphia.  Crossfit was and continues to be a humbling experience, but I was hooked. When my job moved back to the Malvern area I had to find a new box. I did a trial class at CFML, and was sold on CFML.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Washington, NJ, the Washington in northwest Jersey near Phillipsburg.

What class times do you generally take and why?
I take the 5:45AM class, because, I would come up with a million excuses to skip if I took any other time.

What’s your favorite thing about that class time?
Savoring the pain as it builds up through the rest of the day.

What are you most proud of since you started CrossFit?
I wish I could say it was being able to do double-unders, but I continue to struggle with them.  I did do a legless rope climb the other day though.

Outside of the gym, what is your favorite thing to do?
When I’m not shepherding my children to and from their sports events, I like to: cycle, dance, code and watch movies.

If you could invent anything what would it be and why?
I recently read Altered Carbon, I really like the idea of being able to record one’s memories and consciousness on a device called a cortical stack (think flash drive), and being able to implant the device in your cloned body, a new body or a synthetic body.  Which, in theory, would allow someone to live forever, provided the device isn’t destroyed. Along with the added benefit of allowing someone to travel anywhere, simply by transferring their data to another location where it could be placed into a body. As for why, are you kidding me?  What could be cooler than this?

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life with no consequences what would it be?
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the way my mother makes them -> she butters the bread.
